Top of North Mountain in Pawtuckaway State Park

The top of North Mountain is not clear of trees like her neighbor South Mountain is, so the overlooks are set into the side of the mountain. I've hiked this trail many times before, but have never seen the top of the mountain benchmark disc before! It's set into a huge boulder that is off the side of the trail, so I've just walked right on by without realizing it was there. Tonight I saw that rock and thought I might be able to see the sunset over the tops of the trees from there, so I climbed up and discovered that I was at the highest point! And yes, I could see the sunset. But I was actually more excited about discovering the benchmark!

"Cherish sunsets, wild creatures and wild places. Have a love affair with the wonder and beauty of the Earth."

To know her was to love her - everywhere we went, Amber made people smile. We met so many wonderful people on our amazing adventures together! This morning she passed after a brief battle with Hemangiosarcoma. I can't believe she's gone, but I know without a doubt that my life was better for sharing it with her. I was so very lucky! ❤ I'm going to miss her terribly, but will try to carry on as she did - with joy at the little things, always wearing a smile, and a determination that there are no strangers only friends we haven't met yet!

"Do not be dismayed by the brokenness of the world. All things break. And all things can be mended. Not with time, as they say, but with intention. So go. Love intentionally, extravagantly, unconditionally. The broken world waits in darkness for the light that is you." - L.R. Knost

Biker Chick

The wind just about knocked me off a coupla times, but it's a beautiful afternoon for a ride! And since I was wearing my favorite jersey, when I passed an unsuspecting Ed on the trail, I could tell him he just got 'chicked'! 🤣

The trees are budding!

I'm trying to stay positive, but it's a struggle these days. I was so happy to look out the window and see this sure sign of spring!

They're 2 today!

They were unexpected, but came at a time when I really needed them. At a time when my life was changing so fast it felt like it was spiraling out of control. Mama Gwen wasn't sure what to do with the li'l monsters, and they grounded me. I was happy to help her and focus on something joyful. Nurturing them was exactly what I needed. I have so enjoyed watching them grow up into the great dogs they are now. I'm so proud of everything that they have done, but most of all I love that they both will still snuggle into me like they did when they were puppies. They remember. These pups will always hold a special place in my heart and my life. Happy birthday Ginger & George!
